About Emu Park in Queensland
Love a quiet, outdoor-focused lifestyle? Emu Park will tick your boxes. With a population of just over 2,200 as of 2022, the town is centred around a picturesque foreshore and beachfront promenade. Rockhampton and Yeppoon locals keep it on their day-trip list, dropping by to enjoy Fisherman’s or Main Beach.
Fisherman’s Beach is a 2-kilometre stretch of sand with a low 2/10 hazard rating (according to Surf Lifesaving Australia), although it is not patrolled.
Main Beach has a picnic area and playground and is patrolled at peak times of year. Our own Todd Brandon is even a member of Emu Park SLSC.
Locals will recommend you take a stroll along the award-winning Anzac Memorial Walk, stop at the famous ‘Singing Ship’ Monument and enjoy the stunning view across to the islands of Keppel Bay.
Events & festivals in Emu Park
If you’re in the area, check if you’re in time for the Festival of Wind. One of the biggest days of the year for Emu Park, this event brings hundreds of kite-flying enthusiasts to Fisherman’s Beach.
There’s also a local Oktoberfest held at Emu Park Lions Club, plus the Bell Park Picnic Markets, held on the third Sunday of each month.

Emu Park’s potential as a place to live or invest is definitely worth exploring.
Local housing prices have shown solid growth in recent years as buyers seek blocks that offer value for money. The median price is around $715,000, up from around $440,000 in 2020.
Detached homes make up the bulk of the market, with premium properties selling for higher prices and offering impressive ocean views you would pay millions of dollars for in other locations. These homes are popular with retirees and seachangers who are looking forward to life in a quiet hamlet.
Infrastructure: What’s in store for Emu Park
Rockhampton and Yeppoon have seen millions worth of infrastructure changes over recent years and Emu Park is also in line for upgrades.
Livingstone Shire Council’s current Foreshore Management Plan aims to improve the condition, management, and resilience of the Emu Park Main Beach, with the plan expected to be finalised in July/August 2026.
The area also has a new four megalitre reservoir, part of a $2.86 million project, which has brought additional water capacity that can support the area during times of extreme heat and bushfires.
Residential developments include Cove Emu Park, which will bring whole-floor apartments to the area to accommodate the steadily growing population.

Having witnessed home values increasing in Rockhampton and Yeppoon, savvy buyers are now starting to look further afield, and have Emu Park in their sights.
